SANTA MONICA SYMPHONY CONCERT FOR 1600 CHILDREN.
Allen Robert Gross, Conductor and Music Director of the Santa Monica Symphony, took on the role of 'Maestro Chroma' whose music plays color into the world, as David Avshalomov narrated A Colorful Symphony based on the children's classic The Phantom Tollbooth.
Sixteen-hundred 3rd & 4th grade students from the Santa Monica-Malibu School District attended the April 27, 2004, concert in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
Santa Monica Mayor Richard Bloom greeted the children and introduced the concert. Tom Whaley, Arts Coordinator for the School District, arranged the bussing.
